AHLEM – a collision of france and california

Ahlem is my newest frame line, I’m so excited to have it in my shop! It was a bit of a leap for me – as I figure out my Atascadero and north county clientele, but I’m all in and I’m going to keep jumping – leaping – trusting I know my stuff. 😉

Ahlem is a luxury eyewear line launched in 2014 by Paris-born, Los Angeles-based designer Ahlem Manai-Platt. Inspired by the Bauhaus movement, bringing back art into everyday life, Ahlem is designed beautifully. They gave so much attention to the simplest details and the fit is absolutely amazing, they slide right on and settle into the perfect fit on your bridge. Glasses that fit like a glove. The way it should be.

The plastic frames are made out of eight millimeter thick premium Italian acetate, each frame has unique beveling and raw cuts which contrast with polished details. On the transparent colors, the metal temple core has bauhaus inspired triangle & circle engraving that shines through the acetate. The solid strong hinges are plated with 22k gold.

The metal frames are electroplated in palladium and 22k fine gold, filigreed Titanium nose pads, and have signature temple tips that nod to artistic creativity and inspiration.

I have a selection of men’s & women’s styles, as well as many gender neutral styles, in eyeglasses and sunglasses. Call or email me if you’d like to feel the quality in person, I’d love to schedule a time for you to come in.

In other news, school started. Mixed feelings, as usual, with another COVID layer of worry. I am beyond grateful for such amazing teachers who have worked so hard to create a healthy learning routine for our kids. Even though distance learning is done (fingers crossed), kids still do so much learning on the computer. I offer blue-blocking anti-reflective treatment on lenses that is good for all of us, blocking a high percentage of the blue light that research is showing accelerates macular degeneration & other eye conditions, as well as messes with our sleep cycles etc. It isn’t for everyone and I can show you a sample as well as discuss the pros & cons with you. I don’t carry children’s frames, but I do have a selection of petite adult frames that fit my 6 year old, as well as tons of frames for pre-teens, teenagers & college students.
